Biography

About me:
My passion is working with children!  I have been a 3rd grade teacher at Windermere Preparatory School
for the past 3 years.  Now, I'm taking a break from the classroom, and am working full-time in the pool!  Teaching infant self-rescue has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life - I know that the skills I am providing to my students may save their life one day.  When I am not in the water, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our six year old daughter.

Credentials:

I have been involved in Aquatics since 1999, and have previously held positions with the Central Florida YMCA as a Safe Start Instructor, an Aquatics Director, and a Lifeguard.  My Swim Instructor certifications include ISR Instructor and YMCA Swim Instructor.  I am also certified in CPR and First Aid.

I have been teaching Infant Swimming Resource's techniques since 2002.  In order to receive this certification, I was initially trained through an extensive 5 week course during which I was trained and tested in the academic areas of child psychology, behavioral science, physiology, and anatomy.  During this training, I also engaged in over 40 hours of hands-on, in-water practical application of the technique.  In order to keep my ISR certification current, every year I must participate in a re-certification process, which includes an evaluation of my techniques by an ISR Master Instructor.  I believe this continuous training and accountability makes ISR Instructors the safest, most knowledgeable swim instructors in the world.
